Turkish Airlines runs two distinct programs at Istanbul Airport (IST) that travelers commonly conflate: a free hotel stopover for voluntary 20-72 hour layovers, and Touristanbul guided city tours for 6-24 hour layovers. The two cannot be combined on the same trip.

The hotel benefit is cabin- and route-tiered. Economy passengers get one night at a 4-star property; Business gets two nights at a 5-star or boutique. Travelers ticketed from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, mainland China (PVG/CAN/PEK), Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, or Indonesia receive the enhanced tier (Economy 2 nights, Business 3 nights, all 5-star), and India (BOM/DEL) qualifies at the standard tier. N and R fare classes are excluded from the hotel benefit regardless of cabin.

Touristanbul tours run several themed routes covering Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Dolmabahce, and the Bosphorus. The 2026 refresh introduced hybrid and fuel-efficient buses with onboard Wi-Fi, smaller group sizes, expanded Hagia Sophia and Topkapi access, and a rotating calendar of cultural events. Two procedural traps catch travelers. First, the ticket must start with the 235 (TK) prefix on TK-operated segments; codeshares disqualify, even on Star Alliance partners. Second, only one stopover is permitted per round-trip, on either the outbound or the return, never both.

Airport-to-hotel transfers are not an airline benefit.
